As a long-time resident of Madison County, Clayton is committed to working hard to ensure a bright future for the residents of our communities. The son of a teacher and carpenter, Clayton was born and raised in Elwood and graduated in 2003 from Elwood High School. He then continued his education at Indiana State University where he graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminology. Clayton is a former firefighter and EMTA for the Elwood Fire Department.  He worked for both the Indiana State Police and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office prior to joining EFD.

Through his work and educational experiences, he understands firsthand the challenges that face our county. Clayton believes that by making an emphasis on public safety through improving roadways and our communications systems, we can make our county a safer and better place to live. Clayton also plans on taking a hands-on approach to economic development for our county. By actively seeking out and recruiting new businesses for our communities, we can recover the jobs that our county has lost over the last several years. Clayton understands that the challenges facing our community cannot be solved overnight, but with hard work and dedication, we can prosper and grow together.

As a County Councilman from 2014-2018, Clayton worked hard to improve our public safety agencies. He played a role in the creation of the Madison County Public Safety complex which includes new facilities for the Madison County Community Corrections, work release centers, and a new dispatch and EMA command center.
